Al Baldwin Receives "Outstanding Business Leader of the Year" Award

Baldwin & Sons announced today that CEO and Chairman of the Board Al Baldwin has been honored by the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce as Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Leader of the Year. The award celebrates Mr. Baldwin’s decades of service both to the city and to countless charitable organizations. He has donated to many organizations that directly benefit the residents of Chula Vista, including SouthBay Community Services, Southwestern College Foundation, Chula Vista Charitable Foundation, SouthBay YMCA, Living Coast Discovery Center, Chula Vista Public Library Foundation, and Chula Vista Police Foundation.

Mr. Baldwin is actively involved in many projects on both the local and national levels. He was recently named Chairman of the National Parks Foundation and is working in close partnership with the City of Chula Vista in building housing for 100 athletes at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

Past accolades include the Distinguished Citizen Award from Los Angeles County Boy Scouts of America, the National Human Relations Award from the American Jewish Committee, and Distinguished Community Service Award from the Anti-Defamation League. He has also served as Chairman and Board Member of Futures for Children, Treasurer and Board Member for the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and President of the City of Hope Construction Alliance.

“I am truly honored to be receiving this recognition from the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce,” said Mr. Baldwin. “This has been a humbling experience, as I have always felt priviledged to be a part of such an amazing community and to work with its stakeholders to help make its future one we continue to be proud of. I share this award with my family and the talented and dedicated team at Baldwin & Sons, who work hard every day to make both our company and our community better.”

Mr. Baldwin’s career in homebuilding has spanned over three generations and has had a positive impact on homebuyers and families from Los Angeles to San Diego. He has built more than 20,000 homes and developed neighborhoods and communities that continue to thrive to this day. His commitment to combining architectural innovation, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional place making is apparent in every home that Baldwin & Sons has built. This consistent planning and design tradition has earned Baldwin & Sons acknowledgement and praise from homeowners as well as from industry peers.

Baldwin & Sons are no strangers to awards. Over the years, they have received the Pacific Coast Builders Gold Nugget Award, the Los Angeles County Beautification Award, the Good Housekeeping Award, and both the San Diego Section and California Chapter American Planning Association Awards for Comprehensive Planning. The company has also been a three-time winner of the Chula Vista Beautification Award, a winner of the Chula Vista Ribbons & Shovels award for their Corta Bella project, and a recipient of the National Association of Homebuilders “Home of the Year” Award.

Baldwin & Son’s dedication to developing and building awarding-winning, vibrant communities is fully realized at Otay Ranch, where the company is both the developer and one of the leading builders. This year will see them open seven new neighborhoods, a public park, and a 300-unit luxury apartment community at the Enclave at Otay Ranch in the Village of Montecito. In addition, they’ll open new neighborhoods and Otay Ranch’s first hotel in the mixed use hub at the Otay Ranch Town Center.
