On Friday, May 26th, the City of Chula Vista dedicated seven new streets to fallen soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq as part of a partnership between the city and Baldwin & Sons.
Chula Vista Deputy Mayor John McCann, Navy Rear Admiral James McNeal and other city officials were there to honor and express gratitude of the families of these soldiers. Each family was also given a street sign replica to take home with them as a gift. The families of the fallen soldiers were among 200 others in attendance for the dedication of the street names.
Al Baldwin, CEO of Baldwin & Sons, believes “dedicating the street names after these young men will provide lasting memory so that their history, their legacy will not be forgotten. Future families that live here will be reminded of their service and their everlasting commitment will make this a better community."
The soldiers who were honored include U.S. Marine Corporal Salem Bachar, U.S. Army Specialist Michael Idanan, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Joshua Mettero, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Kristofferson Lorenzo, U.S. Army Sergeant Michael Martinez, U.S. Army Specialist Curtis Spivey and U.S. Army Sergeant with 82nd Airborne Division Charles Wyckoff Jr.
