It’s almost Father’s Day and if you’re new to Otay Ranch or considering moving in to one of our Baldwin & Sons communities you might be wondering what there is to do with dad this weekend beyond the usual brunch. Well you’re in luck because we’ve compiled a list of things to do no matter what your dad is in to!
If he loves Sports….
Gift him a tour of the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center! You may not know it but the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center is a U.S. Olympic and Paralympic training site. You can see where the best athletes in track & field, para track & field, rugby, archery, cycling’s BMX and para tennis train. Guided tours will give dad an in-person look at the Olympic Path, and a behind-the-scenes look at venues, strength and conditioning center and dining hall. He’ll walk away happy with even more sports trivia knowledge! (Exact tour stops depend on tour package.)
If he loves Nature…
Get outside in Otay Valley Regional Park! Bring your dog, bring your horse, bring your binoculars, cause Otay Valley Regional Park has it all. Featuring horse riding, biking and hiking trails, plus picnic areas, overlooks and 7 ponds, the park gives you and dad a ton of outdoor activities to try. There are over 8 miles of trails so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife while you roam! Just be considerate of nature and pack out your trash – the park is home to threated and endangered riparian species.
If he has young children….
Nothing says quality time with dad like a day looking at animals at the Living Coast Discovery Center! This 501 (c) 3 nonprofit will teach you all about the animals living around San Diego’s coastline and Bay. But don’t worry; it’s more than just an educational experience. You’ll be wowed by their interactive ray experience and over 20 aquatic exhibits. Get even more from your visit with their VIP Animal Encounters on a behind-the-scenes tour. Bonus Tip: Don’t miss their daily shark, ray, turtle and eagle feedings!
If he likes BBQ-ing…
Ready for some good food? Whether it’s hot dogs or veggie burgers, if your dad loves to cook outdoors, there’s not better place than the BBQ stations at the Village of Montecito Clubhouse. Between the pool, bocce ball courts, and Montecito Park, everyone is sure to work up an appetite. You must be a member of Otay Ranch to use the Clubhouse but if not, Montecito Park right next door also has BBQ pits and play areas open to all!
